Russia shoots down Georgian drone

Abkhazia is claiming that an L-39 shot down the Georgian drone. The video clearly shows a Mig 29. The giveaway feature is the twin vertical stabilisers at the rear of the plane. The L-39 only has one.

A Russian military official denied a Russian Mig was in the area at the time.

Thanks for this interesting clip Gavin. I do think the plane in question is a Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker, which, while it is almost identical to the Mig 29 Fulcrum, has a longer profile due to the extended nose section… which seems to be the case in the video… That said I could be wrong! But you’re right, it’s definitely not an L-39 Albatros!
