I’ve posted some recently taken photos, it is kinda weird to find kangaroos and cheetahs in Ireland – in a fairly open park. You can be just wandering around and bump into a family of wallabes or kangaroos. Quite nice. The park is called Fota Wildlife Park, it is near Cobh, Co. Cork.

World of Ends
This site by Doc Searls and David Weinberger has made massive inroads into the world of blogs. In a thoughtful essay they both mark out the good and bad of the Internet. Definately worth a look.
The Internet isn’t complicated
The Internet isn’t a thing. It’s an agreement.
The Internet is stupid.
Adding value to the Internet lowers its value.
All the Internet’s value grows on its edges.
Money moves to the suburbs.
The end of the world? Nah, the world of ends. The InternetÂ’s three virtues:
a No one owns it
b Everyone can use it
c Anyone can improve it
If the Internet is so simple, why have so many been so boneheaded about it?
Some mistakes we can stop making already
Ireland defeat the French
Another victory and third for Ireland in the Six Nations. No tries were scored but Ireland showed great resolve in its defence, line outs and scrums. A nail-biting match. Final score, Ireland 15, France 12. All penalties, one drop goal by Geordan Murphy in the first minute.
Antigone by Sophocles
As I was blogging yesterday, I went to see a redoing of an ancient tragedy. I have re-read it now, and I am struck by many of the passages in it, especially those of Creon. I will quote some of his speeches over the next few days hopefully- from the Penguin Classics translation.
No other touchstone can test the heart of a man,
The temper of his mind and spirit, till he be tried
In the practice of authority and rule.
Blogging archives on Radio
It is quite frustrating that the calender on the right of this page says I only really started blogging on the 11th of Feb. In fact I started blogging back in September – but I was not using Radio Userland. Can any Radio users help me? Is there anyway I can go back in time and alter my archives? I would have no problem blogging for each day back in time – but I can’t seem to find a facility to do that.
Can Dave Winer or anyone in Radio Userland help?
The genius of Blogging: John Naughton
John Naughton writes an article about Google’s purchase of Blogger and the future of the weblog world. An interesting insight. His weblog is here.
Ireland defeat Italy
Yes we have done it again, Ireland thrashed Italy in a brilliant match. Some excellent tries there, especially O’Driscoll and Peter Stringer scored a gem just at the line. Roll on the grandslam.
My cousin Rebecca Sheridan
This is the first time Rebecca has appeared on the Internet. She has appeared on MyFamily.com, but only to members of the family. So Rebecca Anne Sheridanis now on the net.
What is interesting is that if she does a Google search (or whatever the search engine will be) on herself in a few years time, she will probably find this as one of the first references. And this might even get cached for prosterity.
If you are reading this sometime in 2015 Rebecca, just remember that I was visiting your mum and dad when you decided that it was time to enter the world and I made a quick run to the door and back to Ireland.
And, to think, this story might be on the net forever.
Top 10 on Eatonweb
I somehow made it into the top 10 blogs on Eatonweb – don’t ask me how! Maybe I will go to number 1? Can a drunk Irishman do it? Ahh perhaps the Guinness gives me strength.
Of course we have the crucial Six Nations game of Ireland versus Italy today. The Italians are looking fast and dangerous, they have already beaten Wales. But after Ireland’s defeat of Scotland surely we can beat the Six Nation Newbies? Time will tell.
GavinsBlog on Slashdot
I have submitted a number of stories to Slashdot over the last number of days. My latest one has been accepted, and I am expecting another one to appear on the frontpage shortly.
You can normally read the stories on this blog, first! đŸ™‚ But my thanks to /. readers for their comments – I love the interaction with people that are interested in the same stories I am!
