The Register is reporting that the Xbox 2 will use a 64nm CPU, just like the Playstation 3. IBM is making the chip for Microsoft, and some chips have already been completed. Looks like its going to be Sony versus Microsoft from now on.

65nm? Are they sure. If it is using a 65nm process somewhere, it’s sure as hell not comparable to the 90nm process in the newest Intel chips. A 65nm process is still about 4 years off according to the ITRS roadmap.
Of course they are probably being misleading.
It does sound curious Dave, but as far as I know the PS3 is still a good way off – perhaps 2 years.
