EMPLOYMENT EQUALITY ACT, 1998

For my records:

Exclusion of discrimination on particular grounds in certain employments.

37.—(1) A religious, educational or medical institution which is under the direction or control of a body established for religious purposes or whose objectives include the provision of services in an environment which promotes certain religious values shall not be taken to discriminate against a person for the purposes of this Part or Part II if—

(a) it gives more favourable treatment, on the religion ground, to an employee or a prospective employee over that person where it is reasonable to do so in order to maintain the religious ethos of the institution, or

(b) it takes action which is reasonably necessary to prevent an employee or a prospective employee from undermining the religious ethos of the institution.

Yup and that’s whay that unmarrried mother a few years ago was fired from her job in a school and why a headmaster who was loved by his staff and pupils was fired when he started going out with a married woman.

They can still do it today if they wanted. They’ve not gone away you know.

“They’ve not gone away you know.”

just a thought, you wouldn’t know who “they” are by any chance. it kind of sounds like you might know where “they” hang out? Just on the off chance you might have an email address, so I CAN GIVE THEY A PIECE OF MY MIND. I’m not shouting just for emphasis.

There must be a “They Street/Road/Avenue/Crescent/Court/Sraid” somewhere?
