These will be my last entries of this year. Going by my server logs it seems I have built up a small but loyal following, who regularly visit my site. As of yet I have not been contacted by anyone – LOL not sure if thats a good or bad thing. I will be away in the Middle East for the next 10 days, but i hope to be able to update my site from there. Im gonna burn a CD with Dreamweaver and CuteFtp on it, and use a laptop :).

Hopefully I will be able to bring first hand accounts of any military goings on in the United Arab Emirates, it is a port of call for most allied warships, and staging area for troop buildup. Who knows, I may even get to Kuwait or Muscat or Doha or something LOL. I will also take a few photos and put them up here in the photos section.

Due to my logs being down for a week during December, I have failed to reach my target of 1000 visits this month. If I put in the average number for each day it would amount to about 200 visits. So that would mean I am on 800. Getting closer, but I am happy with the number of people visiting here every day, there seems to be regular custom! If any of you have any suggestions on how to improve things, please email me and let me know.

Much to my delight, yesterdays story “Take it out and zap it” about liver transplants being used to treat cancer made it on the news headlines of the BBC’s 6 o clock news, and I think the 9 o clock news too. There were some differences in the reporting, and I believe some mistakes, at least in relation to the New Scientist article I read. Nice to know I am picking out some of the better stories from the Net, and beating major news corporations to it. 🙂

Yes, after a short absence I am back again with my inimitable wit, and my oft updated and sometimes interesting website. Hopefully this week I shall start with my soapbox section, and on coming back I notice that the number of visits for November was 580.

I was not expecting so many visits. My target for December is 1000 visits. To get these 1000 visits I will not be using any advertisements or mass mailings, nor have I submitted to any search engine. I have submitted to one Blog index over at Eatonweb.

Yes for all ten people reading this now! lol I will not be updating anymore this week, I am off to Manchester! 🙂

Yes my own little weblog has managed to come nigh on 500 visits this month so far. I have my slice of the 500,000,000 people surfing around. Perhaps with a better site and better content, and who knows maybe even a comments section, I could get 2000 a month? My aim would be to get more than that, but I need to work hard on it. I need your help! LOL 🙂

On a personal note, Ireland drew in a boring soccer game with Greece today. We are in dire straights. Maybe someday we shall return to former glory.

Afterwards myself and my brother met two guys from Connecticut drinking Guinness in their travels around Ireland and Europe. Interesting conversation about that weird over 21’s law in the US for alcohol, eventually moving on to police behaviour and then history and politics (inevitably).

I was met with incredulity at my suggestion that the EU is becoming a power-bloc and may end up going to war with the US. But at least I was presented with intelligent argument as to why it will not happen, even if I did not agree with it.

I hope Ryan, (Politics and History graduate) and Brian (Economics graduate), both enjoy their travels and never have to work while travelling – like the rest of us. 🙂

Perhaps I should add more stories about interesting conversations – at greater length. Hmm

Well I have finally updated my site. I hope to add a comments section soon, because no one goes to the bother of emailing anyone these days – that would take too much time. And with the other 100,000 blogs out there I am up against a fair amount of competition. As can be seen here my site has been receiving about 300 hits a month at best. God knows how many of them are some web crawlers or something. But all I can so is hope that there are people out there with similar ideas and interests to me, and would like to read about them here.

Yes its November the 11th, the day the Great War ended back in 1918. Since my visits to the Somme and Belgium I am more acutely aware of this war and its effects, I am currently reading about that period in history. From Bismarck’s successful creation of the German Empire in 1871, to the destruction of several empires in 1918 and the start of what Bobbitt calls the ‘Long War’

I know I should update this thing alot more often, but these days the only people reading it are my relations from across the globe! Hello Kevin, Peter, Bryan, Aileen, and Anthony (the ignorant fecker). hehe

Anyways I had a great time in Gatwick visiting my better half. We stayed in the Meridien which was very nice. The first day we went to Brighton and had a nice walk on the pier, played some slot machines and had some chips :). Next day went to St. James’s Park, really warm day as ever in London.

Better get my arse in gear for adding some more stuff to this site then!
